Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 4, 2026
Uswah Institute is run by USWAH INSTITUTE INC, a non-profit in Indiana. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to run live classes and look after our students.
- Account details: your name, email address, and password (your password is stored in protected form and is never visible to us).
- Phone number, date of birth, and gender. We use gender to place students in the correct class, because brothers and sisters study in separate classes.
- Class participation: which classes you join, attendance, progress, and teacher notes.
- Recitation recordings and files you upload or record as part of your lessons.
- Payment details. These are entered with, and held by, our payment processor. We do not see or store your full card number.
- Device and usage data, such as browser type, pages visited, and activity on the site.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account and place you in the right class.
- Run live classes, record attendance, and let teachers give feedback.
- Take payments, manage subscriptions, and send receipts.
- Send messages about your classes, billing, and account, by email, in the app, and by text message where you agreed to it.
- Keep the platform safe, prevent misuse, and fix problems.
- Understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the institute, and only as much as they need to do their job.
These include our payment processor, our video classroom provider, our email provider, our text message provider, our hosting and storage providers, and analytics and advertising partners (see Cookies and analytics below).
We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect the safety of our students and community.
Children and guardians
Students under 18 are added to the platform by a parent or guardian. The guardian manages the child's account, classes, and payments, and can see the child's progress.
If you believe a child has signed up without a parent or guardian, email us and we will look into it and remove the account if needed.
Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and keep the site working. These do not need your consent.
We also use analytics and advertising tools to understand how people find and use the site. The cookie banner lets you accept or decline them. If you decline, we tell these tools not to store or use cookies about you. In the European Union, the United Kingdom, and similar regions, they stay off until you accept. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's saved data in your browser, which brings the banner back.
Text messages (SMS)
If you agree to receive text messages, we use your phone number to send you the texts you agreed to, such as class reminders. Our text message provider processes your phone number only to deliver those messages.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.
You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP. Our Terms of Use have the full text message program details.
Security
We protect your information with encrypted connections, encrypted storage, and extra encryption for sensitive details. Access to student data is limited by role, and teachers only see their own classes.
No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active and for as long as needed to run the institute, meet legal and accounting duties, and resolve disputes. Class and voice recordings are kept for a limited period and then deleted. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal information, except what we must keep by law.
Your choices and rights
Email us at info@uswahinstitute.org and we can:
- Show you the information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Delete your account and personal information.
- Stop sending you marketing or text messages.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app or by email.
